A virtual envelope system for your checkbook

CheckMATE is a checkbook manager app, written for Windows, that lets you make spending categories (virtual envelopes) for your checking account. You can see screen shots of its features by scrolling down in the overview section on this site.

You enter your deposits, set up any spending categories you like and then transfer money to the categories as you wish.  When you write a check or use your debit card, you tell CheckMate which category to take the money from.

One simple report tells you how much money you have available to spend in all of your categories.

It’s available for purchase as a simple download and it costs $2.00.

Will this work on an older IBM laptop? Is there a system minimum requirement?

I also have a macintosh, but also an older IBM laptop.

Glenda it should be fine on the older IBM laptop. What version of Windows does it run? I used CheckMATE on Windows XP today just to give you an idea. It won’t run on a Macintosh.

Does this mesh well with Mint.com? Thanks.

I’ve never used Mint. My husband wasn’t comfortable handing out our bank account numbers to a third party so I wrote this software first to meet our own needs. Anyway that’s why I never used Mint.

I just purchased your checkmate program and I paid and downloaded. I look in my downloads and cannot find. Any ideas where it may be?

Hi Chris! I just sent you another email with a download link. Let me know if that works or if you still need help. — Mary

Before I buy this I want to know for sure if it works for Mac, since it says it was made for Windows, comments?

Thanks for asking Adam. No it won’t run on a Mac. I’m sorry!
